"in laboratory" books
Q. How can I use "in laboratory" books?
A material whose Status is "in laboratory" is used in a professor's laboratory. If you wish to use it, please apply for a temporary return at the sevice desk, or send us the information of the book by e-mail. It takes a few days to be available. Also, please note that the loan period may be shorter than usual or may be unavailable in some cases.
Borrowing / Returning
Q. I'm currently borrowing some books from another library. Does this affect the number of books that I can borrow from this library?
No, it doesn't. You can borrow up to the maximum number in each library.
Q. Can I borrow journals?
No, but you can temporarily take materials out of the library. Return materials by 30 minutes before closing time. Please visit the service desk to do the necessary procedure.
Q. Can I renew the loan period of a book?
Yes, You can usually renew the loan period up to 2 times. Renewals can be made before the due date as long as there is no reservation by another user. You can renew the due date on OPAC by yourself or visit the service desk. Please note that you can't renew the loan period of the "in laboratory" books.
Q. Can I reserve a book?
Reservation is available for the material on loan. Search it on the OPAC, press the "reserve" button and log in with Nagoya Univ. ID/Password. →[Guide Sheet: Reserve Books That are Currently on Loan]
Q. Can I return the books to other libraries?
No, and also materials that you borrowed from another library, please return them to that library. When the Library of Informatics and Languages is closed, return them to the book drop outside (located in front of the library).
Q. What if I lost a library materials during use?
Please consult the library staff. In principle, to replace a lost book, please buy another copy of the same book. In some cases, they were returned to another library or returned directly to the shelves. Please contact the library anyway.
Facilities
Q. Can anyone use the library?
Yes, anyone can use the library regardless of the department. If you are not a menber of Nagoya University, please fill in the application form at the service desk when you enter the library.
Q. How do I get to the library?

Q. How do I photocopy materials?
Photocopy machines in the Library: for public expense and for COOP photocopy card. If you want to make a copy outside the library, you can take the materials out temporarily. Please fill out an application form at the service desk, and return materials by 30 minutes before closing time. However, some materials are not allowed to be taken out of the library.
Q. Do you have computers for users?
We have two computers for OPAC. Please note that they can only be used to search for materials.
Use of various materials
Q. Are Master's theses available?
You can use the Master's theses of the related department that these authors and supervisors have allowed to use. All Master's theses are not allowed to be taken out. Please see here for details.
If you can't find the material
Q. I can't find the material I want to use, what should I do?
Please contact the library staff. If materials you wish to browse are not available at the library, you can request ordering actual materials or photocopies from other libraries (only for NU Menbers).
